Hello!

I am Carly King, the owner of Discovery Music Therapy, LLC. I am a Board Certified Music Therapist, Neurologic Music Therapist, Licensed Professional Music Therapist and music teacher. I also have a degree in Music Therapy and a degree in Violin Performance from the University of Georgia. I am certified in the Violin Suzuki Method, Books 1-3 and use this as a structure to teaching violin and viola. I have my certification in the Basic Level of DIRFloortime and am pursuing additional certification.

I have taught private lessons for over 5 years and have extensive experience working with children ages 3 to adulthood. Additionally, I have had several years of experience working with children and teenagers with autism, ADHD, developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, and aging adults with dementia, Parkinson’s and various terminal illnesses.

My sincerest hope as a music therapist and music teacher is to use music to help children and teenagers with and without disabilities to reach their greatest potential, develop self-esteem and self-confidence. Or even grow in areas of music education as well as more functional skills, which provide meaning to their lives. I believe in a compassionate and humanistic approach as well as relying on scientific and evidence-based therapeutic approaches. My main passion is to make music accessible to everyone to help provide clients and students with a greater understanding of themselves and to improve their quality of life in a fun, educational and meaningful environment. I like to approach every student as an individual and believe that every young person brings a different set of skills and learning style. In doing so, I take into account their various sensory, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs. I hope to provide the safest space possible to empower you, your child or loved ones. So that they may grow, develop and thrive, in order to meet their fullest potential.
